It was early Spring, I was about 7, wandering in the park near the beach in Vancouver when I found a perfect, smooth, gloriously blue robin’s egg on the ground. That unusual, perfect blue-green colour along with the cool, smooth, unblemished surface of the shell was mesmerizing: unforgettable. It was unclear how it could have fallen from an unseen nest and landed as it did.
